Eyes, Body Language and Attraction: Some Tips

How to flirt with your body? Human communication conveys 7% of information through the meaning of words, 38% of information is passed through intonation and pace of speech, and 55% of information is admitted only with the aid of mimics and gestures. So that is the case of body language. How can we use it in order to understand the others and being understood? How can we arouse an interest in another person by using body language? Freddie got it right: this is a language for eyes, not ears.

Look in the eyes. When we are getting into a formal conversation on a business meeting we may feel like we are looking right into the eyes of our opponent. In reality, our eyes are scanning the face of a person along a narrow cyclic path: left eye – space between the eyes – right eye. When we are talking with a friend, our eyes do the same, but the scanning path gets wider: line below eye level of the person – nose – mouth, and up (overall the path makes an overturned triangle with a base drown below person eye-line).

During a light, flirting conversation the area of eye scan gets even bigger. And if you feel any sexual interest to this person, the center of the scanned area will shift toward person lips. Same will be true, of course, in case if someone you are talking to seem like is gazing right into your mouth: it is very likely that this person already is kissing your lips in her (his) imagination. So you better know that, the rest will be up to you.

Ape me, baby. How body language can show a difference between a light, playful and a strong, passionate sexual attraction? The passion can be revealed through total mimicking of the object of desire. Meaning of it? Probably, to show that if you copy a person, you have or aspire to have a lot in common with him (or her). The origin of this signaling behavior can be a bit deeper, but how can we tell it now? Good news is that we can use it. Of course, such thing should be used moderately, without getting into complete copycatting, when all features, good and bad alike are reproduced: this can be perceived as a mockery. Also, it is always good to hold at least for a minute, before taking your turn on repetitive gesture.

Say Hi with your eyebrows. Lifting eyebrows is one of the most ancient ways of showing friendliness to another person. If you are getting the same in reply, the feelings are mutual. Maybe this was a greeting of our forbears when they were passing each other caves? Languages came later. Now you can use this old way of winning sympathy.

Follow the eye sight. One of the most general and clear statements of body language is watching motion of another person. If you do so, you must have an interest toward this person. If that person notices your gaze and moves toward you: the feelings are mutual. This might be a good moment to switch from body language to a real conversation.
